Manchester United Manager Amorim Confesses He Can't Run From Disappointing Record

Man Utd coach under pressure during latest fixture

Man Utd head coach Ruben Amorim endures the stress during the three-one defeat at Brentford

Man Utd head coach Ruben Amorim admits he is unable to hide from his poor record and states it is expected that Old Trafford legends are criticizing him.

Recently, United's all-time goalscorer Wayne Rooney mentioned during his podcast that "the spirit has vanished" from his old club.

Amorim has managed just 18 victories from his forty-nine matches in charge, including 9 out of thirty-three in the English top flight, where he has still to record two successive wins.

Although senior Old Trafford sources are adamant that the club owner remains backing the manager, failure to overcome recently promoted Sunderland on the weekend will spark new speculation about his future heading into the upcoming fortnight international break.

"It is expected," said the Portugal-born manager, when questioned about Rooney's comments. "One can't hide from the results."

"Then you have the history from last season, [although] that period for me doesn't matter."

Supporter Reaction and Present Situation

Manchester United's followers stayed behind their manager following last season's poor showing, when they ended up fifteenth in the league - their poorest finish since the 1973/74 relegation campaign - and were beaten in the European final, in the belief that this season would be substantially improved.

The manager assured supporters the situation would change because he had additional time to train with his squad without the midweek commitment of European competition.

However is not how the opening six matches have materialised as Manchester United have endured 3 losses so far and are currently 14th in the league.

Manager's Reaction to Questions

When asked what guarantees he could offer fans that the situation will change, Amorim stated: "This is not the moment to speak, it is the moment to show."

"Personally review the games this season and, for me, they are completely varied, but I have little to say at the current time."

  • Manchester United presently hold 14th place in the Premier League
  • The manager has won just eighteen of his 49 games in control
  • Wayne Rooney recently criticized the team's current situation
  • The upcoming match against their opponents is crucial for Amorim's position
